I have a huge stack of vintage gay porn magazines; some have been scanned and some are still waiting to be scanned and added to the VIP Room. I purposely avoided adding them in any particular order so that the number of “gems” would be evenly disbursed over the course of time.

“Souvenir Porfolio” is one of the gems that I’ve been looking forward to adding to the site. THIS is one of the best examples of what I picture porn from the 1970’s should look like. The magazine it came from consisted of still photos from an unknown and forgotten movie scene and it didn’t even mention the title of the movie. Someday I hope to run across this movie because it looks absolutely amazing.

Like I said, this is a textbook example of what we imagine gay porn from the 70’s is supposed to look like. Huge muscular men with beards, mustaches and macho swagger dressed in leather in a completely black room. The leather hoods add a bit of mystery and deviance to the sex play. Back then, leather men and leather sex were shrouded in mystery and frightened the pants off naive twinks (like me!). The fear aspect has always been part of the leather mystique, but ever since “safe, sane and consensual” became the mantra, the fear aspect has waned. The community as a whole is better off because of self-regulation within the leather scene, but the downside is that the rebelliousness has been watered down.

I can’t identify any of the porn stars in these photos, but they all look vaguely reminiscent of somebody either in porn or in real life. In fact, just the other day, I swear I saw one of these models at Gold’s gym. He’ s more likely to be the offspring of the guy in the photos.
