This magazine is 51 years old, that means the guys in it are probably over 70 by now. Was your grandpa hot? Who knows? People didn’t take as many pictures as they do now, and guys didn’t walk around in posing straps or shake their naked ass in bars 50 years ago.

This magazine is a real gem. There are tons of beautiful shots of gorgeous muscle men submitted by a wide variety of photographers. In exchange for submitting photos for print, the magazine gave them free (or discounted) ads to sell their “physique” photographs. Because, as you know, those physique photos were done to inspire and promote health and vitality, or some crap like that.

Riiiiight.

I recently purchased this issue of Demigods Magazine from January 1962. I got it at a really low price because it had a bit of “damage”. It seems a former owner had the delusion that if he carefully cut around the edges of the bathing suits on the models, he’d be able to lift it up and see some dick underneath! Someone seems to have lost touch with reality.

I had lunch with John Karr today. We’re working on launching a website to archive his 30+ years of gay porn movie reviews. The site is not complete, but you can get a sneak peak by visiting KarrnalKnowledge.com. While I was there, he gave me an unmarked 8mm film. We didn’t know what was on it, and he wasn’t even sure if it was porn.

I took it home and put it on the projector and turns out it was Peter Berlin’s “Blueboys Pt. 2″. I got very exciting thinking it was some extremely rare missing footage. Karr was a major contributor to the documentary about Peter Berlin, “That Man“, that came out a few years ago, and he said there was some “lost” footage out there.

Well, it turns out this film is NOT so rare. It’s contained in the DVD extras on the re-release of Peter Berlin’s “That Boy“. Though the content is readily  available, the actual 8mm copy is still very rare. Even the producer of the documentary only had Beta copies to master the DVD, so I will give him the 8mm copy for the official Peter Berlin archive.

And coincidentally, I was going through photos from Easter 2008 this afternoon, and found this shot of the real Peter Berlin! (see below)

White knee high tube socks with stripes around the top and polyester gym shorts with white piping on the edges have made a big fashion comeback recently.
