Jack Wrangler is Making It Big - In His Pants!

Earlier this week I debuted another vintage gay porn magazine in the VIP Room entitled “Making It Big In San Francisco” starring Jack Wrangler. In my first blog post, I was spotlighting the local angle, now let’s talk about the sex, shall we.

This magazine was made in the vague period between softcore and hardcore. There was hardcore magazines printed at the time, and there was probably plenty of hardcore shots taken during this photo session, but this is another examples of “teasers”. They didn’t show any penetration. They could show a naked dick and a mouth or ass dangerously close to that dick, but they wouldn’t show any penetration.

On the positive side, this magazine is almost all color and as you can see, there is some excellent photography. Sign up for the VIP Room and see the rest.

Jack Wrangler – Making It Big In San Francisco

Jack Wrangler

Many of us are STILL waiting for their chance to make it big in San Francisco, but that was the goal for Jack Wrangler way back in this mid-70’s thematic magazine entitled “Making It Big In San Francisco”. The photo play tells a loose story of Jack as a newly famous theater actor who hooks up with a fan after signing an autograph. The photo above shows our Jack walking out of the theater with him little make-up case in tow, because you know, professional act-ors carry make-up with them where ever they go…

They go out on the town on a “date” (whatever that is…), eat at a nice restaurant, visit Pier 39, shop for records, etc. There are some shots of them outside a theater, which I believe is probably the American Conservatory Theater (ACT). Somehow another guy gets into the mix, too, so the story just falls apart.

The shots below at the record store I recognize as Gramophone Records on Polk Street, which is now Gramophone Video. When I first moved to San Francisco in the early 1980’s, gay-owned Gramophone Records had several locations, including one on Castro and two stores on Polk. On Polk, Gramophone was an important “anchor” store for the entire neighborhood. I spent many a Saturday just hanging out on Polk Street visiting all the quaint little shops, and probably unknowingly bumping into Jack Wrangler making something big in San Francisco.
