Volume One Issue 13 of Mr. Sun came out in 1970, and was an absolute delight to work on for this site! It’s all very softcore and pretty-boy tease, but it’s an interesting archeological find.

First off was a series of photos allegedly shot in the back yard of a mansion in Bel Air with gaudy statues and trimmed shrubbery. (Could have been Liberace’s back yard!) The series was titled “Golden People Male Nude Mini-Olympics” (which was 15 years before the Olympic Committee prevented Gay Games from using the word “Olympics”).

“The sporting events were held, of course, in the manner of the original Greek Olympic Games – in full, glorious nudity. A dozen bronzed rock hard bodies cavorted in the warm sun in a variety of ancient and modern games… Such diverse sports as football, mini-trampoline, weightlifting, and even hoola-hooping enabled the judges to view the Golden People contestants at rest and whirling, twirling, running, jumping and in other strenuous activities.”

Other strenuous activities indeed!

There is one especially handsome and buffed young man with the most developed physique of the group that caught my eye. The photographer must have also felt the same way as he got the prime position posing on top the statuary.
