I’m very excited about another recent purchase of vintage gay porn. The other day I dropped by my favorite thrift store (don’t ask me where it is, I don’t reveal my sources!) and found a stack of old magazines from the 60’s and 70’s. Magazines from the 60’s are especially rare because there weren’t many printed. But a couple of the items from this batch are doubly rare because they are hardcore.
I don’t have any real documentation by time line, but most of the gay adult material in the 1960’s was still very tame. Some of it went from the solo guys standing in posing straps to two guys naked in bed without touching each others genitals. There is a lot of semi-softcore material well into the 1970’s that wouldn’t go any farther than “no-mouth-on-dick” porn. It wasn’t till the mid to late 1970’s that gay porn was fully hardcore with penetration.
At least two of the magazines from this recent purchase can clearly be identified as being from the 1960’s AND with full penetration. This makes it much more rare, and as a result, much more valuable in the future.
Along with the stack of magazines I bought the other day, I also scored eight framed art pieces. Six of them are prints of gorgeous male nudes signed by Joe Johnson in 1981. Another one is a print by R. Christian Anderson that is stamped and numbered.
But my favorite is an actually original pencil art piece that looks very much like the style of Tom of Finland. It’s signed by “Clark” and dated 1981.
I wasn’t expecting to spend the amount of money I did at that moment, but from a broader perspective, it was a steal. Not only did I get 30 year old legitimate erotic art for pennies, I also scored rare historical and cultural oddities that go back up to 45 years.
